The VHS to Digital transfer service by Matty D. Media continues to preserve memories frozen in time, despite the freezing temperatures across Kansas.  In most cases, project managers have even been picking up and dropping off tapes and thumb-drives with home delivery.

Why digitize VHS tapes in the wintertime

Winter is the perfect season to digitize VHS tapes for a few compelling reasons. As the temperatures drop, many people find themselves spending more time indoors, making it an ideal opportunity to focus on meaningful projects. Digging through old boxes of VHS tapes in the attic or basement not only brings a sense of nostalgia but also provides the chance to organize and protect those cherished memories before time and wear take their toll.

The colder months also tend to be a time of reflection and togetherness. Family gatherings during the holidays often spark interest in reliving old memories, and digitizing tapes offers a wonderful way to share those moments. Whether it’s a wedding video, a child’s first steps, or a long-forgotten family reunion, converting VHS tapes to digital formats allows for easy playback and sharing across modern devices. It’s a thoughtful way to connect with loved ones near and far, even if you can’t all be together.

Interesting recent transfers by VHS to Digital

Matty D. Media has had the pleasure of digitizing some iconic Lawrence moments of late.  We digitized VHS tapes for Watkins Museum from more than 50 veterans who shared their war stories with local historians.  That collection had been frozen in time from the early 1990s.  Similarly, KU Endowment recently reached out to Matty D. Media to digitize a recognition of one of his biggest donors in the late Bob Billings.  Billings was a former KU basketball player who went on to make a huge impact with his leadership and generosity to the Lawrence community.  The recognition event, which was the subject of the VHS transfer, brought out dignitaries and local celebrities including former KU basketball coach Roy Williams.
