How an affordable real estate photo, video shoot is broken down

Affordable real estate photography works best when the scope of the home matches the scope of the package. A 20–25 photo package is ideal for smaller properties. This typically includes homes around 1,000 to 1,500 square feet with 2–3 bedrooms and a simple layout.

For homes in this range, a focused shot list is enough to tell the story. Photographers can cover the exterior, main living spaces, kitchen, bathrooms, and primary bedrooms without needing excessive angles. This keeps both the shoot and editing process efficient.

Larger homes often require more coverage. Properties with 4 or more bedrooms, finished basements, or unique features benefit from expanded packages. More rooms and details require more images to properly market the space.

The equipment used on this drone plus interior photography package include two sets of gear.  For one, we use DJI drones that shoot in 4K quality video.  For the interior photos, we normally shoot with a Nikkon Z camera with a 14-24mm lens.  Drone certifications, registrations, licensing, and equipment costs carry their own variable costs for business owners.  The value of the Nikkon camera gear itself is currently listed on B&H photo for around $2,000.

Speed is another key factor in affordable packages. Photographers work with a defined shot list and avoid capturing unnecessary angles. Fewer photos mean faster editing and quicker turnaround times. This is especially important for listings that need to go live quickly.

Kitchens and main living areas should always be prioritized. These spaces have the biggest impact on buyers. If extra images are needed, they are usually best spent highlighting these high-value areas.

In short, affordable packages are designed for efficiency. When the size and complexity of the home align with the photo count, you get strong marketing results without unnecessary cost.

Setting Clear and Reasonable Expectations for Real Estate Photography

Successful real estate photography starts with clear expectations on both sides. Before any shoot, it is important to align on the scope of work, including the number of images, turnaround time, and overall visual approach.

Photo count plays a major role in how a property is presented. For example, a 20–25 photo package is designed to cover the essentials. This includes key exterior angles, main living areas, kitchens, bathrooms, and primary bedrooms. Larger homes—especially those with four or more bedrooms—often benefit from expanded packages with more images and additional angles.

Timing is another important factor. When a project requires a fast turnaround, photographers work efficiently within the agreed scope. This means prioritizing the most important shots and delivering polished, market-ready images on schedule. Faster delivery timelines naturally limit the opportunity to capture additional angles beyond what was planned.

Our approach to real estate photography is rooted in accuracy and professionalism. As we often explain to clients, “Our small business documents real life scenes with professional polish.” We aim to present properties as they truly appear, while enhancing each image with clean, consistent editing. Environmental features such as landscaping, surrounding trees, and neighborhood context are thoughtfully included to help tell the full story of the home.

For example, in the photo below, you can see that a cluster of mature trees made it challenging to capture an un-obstructed aerial view of the front of the home.  Our media producers use common sense and put the story into context.

Client collaboration is also a key part of the process. After delivery, there is an opportunity to review images and request revisions before publishing. This ensures that any adjustments can be made while the project is still active and before the photos are distributed across listing platforms.

When expectations are aligned—from package size to turnaround time to visual style—the result is a smooth process and a final product that effectively supports the sale of the home.

Use Cases for 20-25 Photo Album Real Estate Package

Flint Hills area realtor Owen Cleek used this 20-25 photo package to showcase the home across several major platforms. He posted the images on Zillow, Realtor.com, and the local MLS listing so buyers could easily find and view the property. The bright, clear photos helped the home stand out online and made each room easy to understand. By sharing the same set of photos across all platforms, Owen kept the listing consistent and professional. This approach helped attract more attention from buyers browsing in the Kansas market.

How Production for a Low Cost Shouldn’t Equal Low Integrity

Unfortunately, this website article doubles as a response to how the property developer (not the realtor) graded our work.

Matty D. Media actually normally charges a 30% premium for media delivered within 3 business days as a “rush premium.”  However, with this client we didn’t charge that rush premium when we met his demand of delivering the photos within 12 hours.  Despite delivering exactly what we promised on time and on budget, the property developer in this transaction chose to leave Matty D. Media a 1 Star Google review.

Nir Levy has left a few 1-star reviews in his past.  Those bad reviews were given during his travels around California and Las Vegas.  According to Facebook, Nir is a member of the Las Vegas Real Estate Investors club.  He was not in Kansas during our photo shoot to provide input, but he had plenty to say on Google after his team already published the images.

The photos were delivered to his team on a Friday afternoon, they were published at 10:21 p.m. the next Tuesday night, but he decided to start giving us input 10:38 via email on that same Tuesday night.

Matty D. Media production clients receive edited files on Dropbox so that they can download with universal rights to.

This real estate “professional” left this feedback without giving Matty D. Media the opportunity to re-edit (or even re-shoot) the materials.  Once the photos are published to the (MLS) listing services, there’s a no refund policy.  Publishing the photos constitutes acceptance of the deliverables.

For the record, a free round of revisions are always included in any production that Matty D. Media manages.  This client to chose to publish both the real estate photos and his critique of our work without the opportunity to revise the deliverables.  Below is a full record of what was delivered to this client on Dropbox.

Recently, scammers have increasingly been using Google Reviews as a form of blackmail.  If you feel like you are the victim of Google Review blackmail, here is a form to submit a complaint with the company.

As a communications company, Matty D. Media will not allow misrepresentations about our small business go un-answered.  Nir says in his 1-star Google review that he “barely received 15 photos that we could use for the listing.”  He also claims that the photos were not edited.  Below is proof of the 33 edited photos that were actually delivered.

Unfortunately, sometimes a low-cost option brings forward low-integrity clients.  We will use better discretion about who we make this package available to in the future.
